Riot Games has revealed more details about the upcoming LTA North 2026 Promotion tournament, including the revelation that the LAN Finals in Mexico City will take place ‘without a live audience.’
The lack of a spectating crowd has sparked criticism from the community against Riot Games across various platforms, with some calling the decision ‘crazy‘.
Format, Schedule and Teams
The LTA North 2026 Promotion event will take place from October 4th to 12th, 2025. Teams such as LTA North Guest Team Disguised will compete in a seven-day-long Double-Elimination competition, with matches being Bo5 and using fearless draft.
The first six days of the tournament will be online, before culminating in the LAN Finals on the last day.
- October 4th: Play-In
- October 5th: Quarterfinals
- October 6th: Quarterfinals
- October 7th: Lower Bracket Semi-finals
- October 8th: Semi-finals
- October 9th: Lower Bracket Finals
- October 12th: Grand Finals
Five teams will attend the event, featuring some of the best tier-two Americas teams of the 2025 season. However, only two teams will travel to Riot Games’ studio in Mexico City for the LAN Finals to compete without a live audience.
Here are all of the teams competing and how the organisation’s qualified:
- Disguised – LTA North Guest Slot
- Luminosity Gaming – NA Challengers League
- Conviction OR Blue Otter – NA Challengers League
- SDM Tigres – Liga Regional Norte
- Estral Esports – Liga Regional Norte
The winner by the end of the week will secure the guest slot for the LTA North 2026 season, earning the right to compete in the LTA tier-one league and potentially qualify for international events in 2026 such as First Stand, MSI and Worlds.
The guest slot also comes with additional ‘financial support’, including an operating stipend, a share of the Global Revenue Pool generated from LoL esports in-game sales, alongside other benefits offered to tier-one teams.
