TL;DR

  • A trailer has revealed a new Fortnite x Squid Game creator made games mode.
  • The creator made games allow players to make their own Squid Game-inspired games and islands in Fortnite.
  • Some of the creative tools available include a starter map template and two game templates.

Following the Fortnite x Squid Game collab in June 2025, Epic Games has unveiled the Fortnite x Squid Game creator made games. This feature allows Fortnite creators to utilise official assets to create Squid Game-themed islands and mini games.

A trailer was released at Gamescom 2025, which highlighted the creator made games, while also confirming a new addition to the line-up of Fortnite x Squid Game skins. Let’s dive a little deeper into the Fortnite x Squid Game creator mode to see what players can expect.

The Fortnite x Squid Game creative tools had already been confirmed to be officially coming to the game via an updated blog post on the Fortnite website from August 14, 2025. The Gamescom trailer gave the release date for the tools, confirming that they would be dropping the following day.

The trailer also showed off some gameplay. The gameplay featured players making their way through obstacle courses and playing some of the official Squid Game games, such as Red Light, Green Light. There are also clips of unique Fortnite x Squid Game concept mini games made with the tools, such as an Among Us style guess the imposter mini game.

The other significant reveal from the trailer was confirmation that The Front Man character from the Squid Game series will finally be getting an official skin. This is a skin that Fortnite players have wanted for a long time, making it a notable addition to the line-up of existing Squid Game themed Fortnite skins.

In terms of what is included in the creator made games, and how to use them, Fortnite has created a comprehensive guide with all the relevant information. Make sure to check it out here if you are interested in creating your own island. Some of the features that players can expect to find include the following:

  • A Squid Game starter island map template
  • Two Squid Game templates
  • Disguises
  • Throwables
  • Carryable Spawner Device
  • NPCs
  • Props
  • Voting options
  • Skilled Interaction Device

As well as this, there is also a brand and creator rule guide, which players must abide by when building their islands and games. Be sure to read that too, so you know exactly what responsibilities and expectations you have when using the Squid Game creator made content tools.

Fan reaction to the Fortnite x Squid Game collaboration 2025

So far, fan reaction to the trailer, and to the general Fortnite x Squid Game 2025 collab, has been pretty lukewarm. Some fans felt disappointed with the content released in June. A Reddit thread damningly titled “The Squid Game Update Genuinely Sucks” shows how some players were feeling when the collab first dropped. Redditor Acrobatic_Staff_799 had this to say,

“another trash update by epic games. the new map sucks so bad, as well as there being tons of glitches…fix your game PLEASE”.

Several comments in the thread seem to agree with this negative response, such as from NormalEnvironment769, who was frustrated with the logistics of the Squid Game-themed map,

“There’s also places where you can’t build at all or builds js go under the map”

One Reddit thread argues that the Call of Duty collab with Squid Game was more impressive than the Fortnite one in terms of cosmetics, while another thread discusses the frustration at the decision to use the default Fortnite skins and dress them in Squid Game outfits rather than getting actual Squid Game character skins.

This average at best response has led to a wane of interest in Fortnite x Squid Game content for some players, which is probably why there hasn’t been much of a response to the Gamescom 2025 trailer. The few comments that are available are somewhat cynical, such as a comment from @Laithy-w6u who said,

“Better late than never. Sike they actually posted this before Fortnite.”

Another comment from @EpicMomentMaker on the YouTube short for the trailer was somewhat damning of the collaboration, saying,

“Played two rounds. How did people manage to make squid game without actual tools 10x better than the official squid game stuff?? Actually embarrassing.”
Of course, there are sure to be plenty of players who are having fun with the Fortnite x Squid Game collab. At the time of writing, only a few days after the Fortnite x Squid Game release date for the creator made games was announced, players are still getting to grips with the tools and making their islands and mini games. There are sure to be more reactions coming in the near future, but for now, the best course of action for those wanting to know more about the Fortnite x Squid Game creator made games is to jump in and try it for yourself.
