Team Falcons has won the 2025 Esports World Cup (EWC) Club Championship, successfully defending their 2024 title.

The Saudi Arabian esports organisation holds 4,900 points after seven weeks of competition in Riyadh.

They placed 700 points ahead of Team Liquid, while Team Vitality also dropped out of contention to win the title this week.

How did Team Falcons win the Esports World Cup Club Championship?

Team Falcons competed in the widest range of tournaments during the Esports World Cup.

Out of the 25 titles appearing in Riyadh, Team Falcons competed across 21 titles – compared to Team Liquid’s 13.

Highlights included winning the Overwatch Champions Series Mid-Season Championships and a second-place finish in Dota 2.

The 2025 competition proved far closer than 2024, when Falcons finished more than 3,000 points ahead of Team Liquid.

Both Team Liquid and Team Vitality managed over 4,000 points despite featuring in fewer competitions during the event.

EWC CEO Ralf Reichert wrote on LinkedIn: “Team Falcons are our back-to-back Club Champions. Congratulations to the players, coaches, analysts, staff, and the Falcons family — you earned every point.

“This year felt like the true reflection of what the Club Championship is meant to be: every match, every point, every title was necessary.”

Team Falcons marked their success with a post on social media platform X, with an image of their winning organisation members.

How much prize money does Team Falcons win?

Team Falcons has walked away with a $7m (£5.2m) prize after topping the standings.

EWC CEO Reichert has said that $20m (£14.9m) is still to be awarded over the final weekend of the event across Counter-Strike 2, Street Fighter 6 and Crossfire.

Why the Esports World Cup is so important to Team Falcons?

Team Falcons wanted to step up at the Esports World Cup this year, and put a lot of effort into the event.

It’s no secret that Team Falcons is backed by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, the same initiative that backs the Esports World Cup Foundation – the organisers of the Esports World Cup.

The Esports World Cup Foundation was established by Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman in 2023.

Team Falcons were founded by Mosaad Al-Dossary, but the esports organisation is reportedly supported by anonymous financial backers, widely believed to have links with the Saudi royal family.

The importance of the Esports World Cup is evidenced by their jerseys, which they have a star on for winning the Esports World Cup Club Championship in 2024.

Team Falcons will be able to add a second star to their jersey after defending the title in 2025.
