The TFT Paris Open will be the biggest TeamFight Tactics esports event of the year.

The first-ever TFT Open took place in Macao last year as Wang ‘Shiquz’ Dong bested over 500 competitors to become champion.

Now, Riot has confirmed that this year’s event in the French capital will take place between December 12th and 14th.

The League of Legends Game Changers and EMEA Masters Summer will be held in Paris a month prior.

This year, the TFT Paris Open will take place in the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles with even more players.

The Main Event will feature 768 competitors with the top 128 getting a cut of the $300k+ (£223k+) prize pool.

Just like last year, the winner will take home a substantial share of that money with a $100k (£74k) grand prize.

As the Esports World Cup used a team-based format for TFT, it will be hard for esports betting sites to pick a tournament favourite.

There will also be various side events, including a $10k (£7.4k) 4v4 tournament for those eliminated on Day 1.

The tournament will be played on Set 16, which won’t be released until just before the event.

This means all players will have to adapt to all of the new content and quickly come up with new strategies.

Still, players will initially be seeded based on their K.O. Coliseum (Set 15) ranking.

After Round 1, players will be seeded via a snake draft based on the points they earn throughout the tournament.

On Day 1, the 768 players will be split into three groups of 256 with 32 Lobbies in each group.

These groups will play four matches, and then the top two of each (192 total) will advance to the next round.

Then, an additional 64 players with the remaining top tournament points will also progress.

These 256 players will then compete to qualify across multiple rounds before the final 64 play in a checkmate format.

Once a player hits 20 points, they put their lobby “in check” and must secure a first-place finish to win outright.

The winners of each checkmate (eight total) will advance to the final day to compete in one last checkmate format to decide the champion.

How to get passes and tickets for the TFT Open Paris?

To compete in the TFT Paris Open Main Event, competitor passes cost $399 (£296), but high-ranked players get discounts.

It costs $299 (£222) for Masters and GrandMasters players, and $199 (£147) for Challenger and Tactician’s Crown players.

As well as Main Event access, the pass gives players an exclusive jacket, in-game Chibi, panel access and more.

The TFT Paris Open competitor passes will be on sale between September 7-10, with presales for highly ranked players.

Spectator tickets will cost 35 EUR (£30) per day or 100 EUR (£86) for a three-day pass.

That is a discounted early bird price available between September 10th to October 9th.
