We love co-op shooters. Left 4 Dead? Amazing. Vermintide? Hours of fun. Another contender is about to drop, and maybe steal our headshot-seeking hearts. Deadzone Rogue drops its full release soon, so let’s explain what it’s all about.
Deadzone Rogue drops you into a bad situation. You wake up on a spaceship overrun by evil robots with no idea who you are and how you got there. You don’t have much time to think on it either. Grab a weapon and get blasting. Worry about your existential crisis later.
Deadzone Rogue is a first-person shooter. As the name might suggest, it’s also a roguelike. You need to try and get as far as you can against hordes of angry AIs, taking the ship sector by sector.
Go Rogue
As you progress, you improve your setup, with new weapons and new perks to choose from. You are customizable, with different augments available, but so is your weaponry.
Upgrade guns and give them special mods that ramp up the chaos, with black holes or a rain of ice shards.
When you do go down (and you probably will), you need to make your progress all over again. You don’t lose everything, though; you can make permanent upgrades that will make the next run stronger.
Team Up
All this stuff is more fun with friends, and fortunately, Deadzone Rogue brings that too. You can co-op with up to three buddies and play it tactically. If you’ve found a priority target, mark them so the rest of your squad know who to focus fire on.
Co-op mode also has adjustable difficulty, depending on if you want a chill game to unwind at the end of the day or if you all want to test your skills to breaking point.
This full game launch has added a lot from the Early Access iteration too, such as 20 new enemies, two unique mini-bosses, and a large-scale boss encounter. Then there’s the addition of the Zone 3 content, completing the game’s story through 9 new missions.
If you like the sound of this, the game’s full PC release is now available on Steam. At a 20% discount for a limited time, too.
If you’re a console player, you might have to wait a little longer for the full title, but the demo is free to play right now for Xbox Series and PS5 consoles.
