Bayes Esports Insolvency Leaves GRID Dominant in Esports Data

Esports data provider Bayes Esports is possibly shutting down, which leaves GRID Esports with nearly total control over the industry’s data.

On August 6, 2025, The Esports Advocate reported that Bayes filed for insolvency in May of 2025 and has begun the court-ordered process to rectify it. The news follows data rival GRID Esports snatching up Bayes’ exclusive contracts with Riot Games and the Esports World Cup. Combined with its prior partnerships with Riot Games and ESL, GRID now controls the majority of the official esports data industry. This could have significant ramifications for the esports betting market, which heavily relies on data providers to set lines.

The original report claims that Bayes Esports has until October 24, 2025, to finalize plans to either restructure, shut down, or sell off all of its assets. As it stands, the company has already lost multiple major partnerships, including its flagship collaboration with Riot Games.

That contract was nabbed by GRID Esports, which announced the exclusive deal in November of 2023. The terms of that agreement included solitary rights to first-party data from both League of Legends and Valorant esports.

In order to compete on that front, Bayes would have to scrape unofficial data, an act that Bayes chief commercial officer Amir Mirzaee has publicly railed against. In addition to Riot, GRID maintains steady partnerships with the following developers and tournament organizers.

  • BLAST
  • Champion of Champions Tour
  • ESB
  • ESL
  • Gamers Club
  • IO Esports
  • Perfect World
  • Starladder
  • YaLLa Esports

Founded in 2014 under the name Dojo Madness, Bayes Esports went through multiple successful funding rounds with support from Sony, Fertitta Capital, and other investment groups. In 2022, the company announced a €6 million strategic investment with support from Las Vegas Sands and BITKRAFT. With the October deadline now looming, investors must soon decide how to handle the insolvent company.

With Bayes out, GRID reigns supreme in esports betting data

With Bayes out, GRID is now the largest esports data provider for betting services, and this could either help or harm the industry.

GRID Esports provides data to Oddin.gg, BETER, Pinnacle, FeedConstruct, and more. GRID also provides data to Abios, the Kambi Group’s esports division, which alone provides odds to over 50 betting operators. When comparing the two companies, GRID now boasts a significantly larger portfolio. However, it doesn’t quite have a monopoly on the esports data space.

Oddin.gg maintains exclusive rights to official data from PGL and StarLadder. It now stands as the biggest rival to GRID for partnerships with tournament organizers. Even with those companies missing from its portfolio, GRID boasts the most comprehensive array of official data across a multitude of esports titles.
