Fortnite Super Showdown live event: Start time, details, & what to expect

Fortnite Chapter 6 Season 3 brought exciting superhero-themed powers and weapons to the game, from the menacing Spire Rifle to a nifty Krypto treat. Now that the Supernova Academy storyline is coming to an end, Epic Games is bringing out a live event to celebrate. Teasers point to a massive kaiju battle with a Kraken summoned by the character Daigo, meaning that dynamic map changes and other twists might be on the menu. 

Considering that it’s a limited-time event, mark your calendars and get ready to nab some exclusive loot. Here’s everything you need to know about the Fortnite Super Showdown live event’s date and time, what gameplay aspects you can look forward to, and how its ending could set up the next Season.

Announced at the 2025 San Diego Comic-Con, the Fortnite Super Showdown event is scheduled to go live on Saturday, August 2, at 2:30 PM ET/6:30 PM UTC. The timing was confirmed by Epic Games via a teaser on X. While the event starts at 2:30 PM, you can hop into a lobby 30 minutes early to secure your spot. You can also watch the event live as it unfolds. 

Keep checking the Discovery tab in-game for the latest updates and try jumping in before the Fortnite Super Showdown event’s start time to avoid lengthy queue times. It’s a good idea to check for any last-minute game updates as well.

While the teaser revealed a powerful beam obliterating part of the Demon’s Domain area, lengthy spoilers regarding the entire battle have already leaked online. Expect a kaiju battle of humongous proportions to shape the next Season’s map as you whittle away the Kraken’s tentacles as a team of superheroes. Considering Superman’s role in helping the Supernova Academy in Fortnite’s current Season, expect him to play a significant role in this lore-driven final battle. Daigo, now a demon due to their failure to secure passage into the Spirit Realm, is expected to be the final villain of the Season. Heroes Morgan Myst and Hope will hopefully back you up as you go toe to toe against a fearsome Kraken and its nimble tentacles.

The in-game map has already begun to change, from spires across the island glowing with magic to strange noises being heard near Demon’s Domain. As indicated by the teaser, expect the final battle to happen at this location. Try wrapping up the battle pass with the best Fortnite weapons beforehand so that you can focus on finishing the game with items exclusive to the latest Season.
