Patch 1.2.0 helps you finally earn the coveted three stars in all cups.
News from the Mushroom Kingdom: As announced by the Toad press spokesman on behalf of Princess Peach, the major update 1.2.0 for Mario Kart World is now available.
The patch will be automatically downloaded and installed on your Switch 2, provided your console is not in airplane mode.
And what’s new? Lots! The biggest highlight for many long-suffering fans: The CPU cheats less drives less well.
This means that it should now be easier to achieve the full three stars in every Grand Prix and Knockout Cup.
Here are the most important highlights of the update:
- In Versus mode (single player), you can now completely disable the AI drivers.
- In Versus mode (single and multiplayer), you can now set the items to “Mushrooms only.”
- Once you have collected all P-Switches, ?-pads, or Peach Medallions, the number on the open world map will be colored differently.
- The AI players have been weakened across the board.
In addition, there are dozens of bug fixes and many useful changes to gameplay, user interface, and controls. The full patch notes can be found on page 2. Now, with update 1.2.0, the AI has been slowed down. It should only be a matter of time before significantly more players than before can boast all three stars throughout the game.
Apart from patches, new content for Mario Kart World is also likely to be planned. However, there is no official confirmation of this yet. But we would be very surprised if the racing game didn’t get new tracks, vehicles, and characters over the years.
New features
- In the “Versus Race” mode under “Single Player”, the option “No COM” has been added to the COM rules.
- In the “Versus Race” mode under “Single Player” and ‘Multiplayer’, the option “Only Mushrooms” has been added to the item rules.“Only Mushrooms” has been added to the item rules.
- In the “Time Trial” mode, you can now select “Watch Replay” after downloading ghost data.
- When watching in “Knockout Tour” and “Balloon Battle” you can now select which player you want to watch.
- In multiplayer, the waiting time until the start of the next race or battle is now displayed.
- When using Camera Game in Multiplayer or Online Game, the game now remembers the position and size of the camera cursor until the game is closed.
- When the number of players changes, the position and size of the cursor are reset to their original settings.
- In Free Ride the colors of the numbers now change once all P-Buttons, ?-Blocks and Peach Medals have been collected.
- COM opponents have been weakened in all modes except “Battle” .
- The target tracking of the Boomerang has been weakened.
- The probability of obtaining a Triple Turbo Mushroom has been reduced when ranked low, unless the item rule is set to “Furious.”
- The chance of getting a ? block has been increased – unless the item rule is set to “Furious”.
- If you press A (accelerate) too early at the start of a race, a wheel spin animation is now displayed.
- However, the player does not lose any speed when the wheels spin.
- The probability of lap tracks appearing in the track selection in Versus Races and Multiplayer has been increased.
Bug fixes
- Fixed a bug where the score changes in Wireless Races were displayed incorrectly.
- Fixed a bug where the vehicle would remain suspended in the air after jumping off a halfpipe.
- Fixed a bug where the player would fly off the track after crashing while gliding and using a Balloon Pop.
- Fixed a bug where the driver’s posture was not restored correctly after canceling a rewind against a wall.
- Fixed a bug where the item displayed in the slot changed to a different item when used.
- Fixed a bug where the player did not accelerate when driving over a Turbo Panel in Online Play.
- Fixed a bug where the score display in Team Race in Wireless Play was incorrect.
- An issue has been fixed where the controls in the menu would sometimes stop working after being eliminated in Bob-omb Toss in Wireless Play.
- Fixed a bug where a Peach Medal would sometimes disappear when rewinding in Free Ride mode.
- Fixed a bug where the controls would stop working when you moved the cursor over your driver or course in the Free Ride menu and pressed A.
- Fixed a bug where the controls would freeze if you canceled a mission in Free Roam just before entering a tunnel.
- Fixed a bug where you could slide through the ice near Ice Cream Escape.
- Fixed a bug where you would get stuck on a railing right after starting in Flying Fortress.
- Fixed a bug where the player would get stuck on a fence in Bowser’s Fortress and be unable to continue.
- Fixed a bug where you couldn’t glide when using Balloon Boy in Bowser’s Fortress and fell into the abyss.
- Fixed a bug where using a Mega Mushroom in the last curve of Steam Train would cause you to fly off the track.
- Fixed a bug where you couldn’t get out of a ravine after falling off the track in Steam Train Summit when Smart Steering was enabled.
- Fixed a bug where you could fall through the ground of a ramp near the finish line in Chocolate Swamp.
- Fixed a bug where using Ball Willi at the entrance to Chocolate Swamp would cause you to get stuck on a block.
- Fixed a bug where you could get stuck on a wooden board between the DK Start Ramp and Steam Train Summit when throwing a green shell.
- Fixed a bug where the last placement in Dinodino Jungle in Wireless Race was sometimes incorrect.
- Fixed a bug where using Balloon Willi at the back of a leaf in Treetop Path would cause you to get stuck.
- Fixed a bug where using Buu Huu would not allow you to pass through a vase on the track in Shy Guy’s Bazaar .
- Fixed a bug where you could slide through the ceiling in Bone Dry Volcano .
- Fixed a bug where a red shell would crash into a fence on the first turn of Moo Moo Farm .
- Fixed a bug where part of the bridge animation was not displayed on the way to Rainbow Road.
- Fixed a bug where you could slip through the ground between Aurora View and Ice Cream Escape.
- Fixed a bug where some item boxes did not appear in Wario’s Galleon Wreck.
- Fixed a bug where you could slide through the floor of a rock near the goal of Wario’s Galleon Wreck.
- Fixed a bug where using a Mega Mushroom in a curve in Wario’s Arena would cause you to fly off the track.
- Fixed a bug where you would get stuck on a tree with Smart Steering enabled when shortcutting fromAurora Outlook to Dandelion Cave in Ice Rally mode.
