Following accusations of censorship, Steam users are now contacting Visa directly – but Visa’s response has not been particularly well received.
Steam is now called Steam for good reason, as the gaming platform is currently in turmoil. After several adult games were banned just under two weeks ago, users are up in arms. Now gamers are complaining to those responsible – and the response is sobering.
What happened?
On July 17, things got heated on Steam: numerous games disappeared from the store because they did not comply with the guidelines of some credit card companies. Visa, Mastercard, and other payment service providers want nothing to do with games such as Sex Adventures – Incest Family. Such titles were not available for purchase in Germany anyway, but now this also applies internationally.

A complaint to Visa
The Reddit user dudeduck has now contacted his bank with a clear message: As a long-standing Visa customer, I consider this to be a massive intrusion into customers’ control over what they can spend their money on, even though these are completely legal transactions/purchases.
, said dudeduck. He will switch to another company as long as these censorship measures are not reversed.
Visa has responded to the complaint, but the angry mob has not taken it particularly well.

So far, tempers seem to be anything but cooling down. However, it is just as unlikely that the credit card companies will back down. In any case, it’s almost certain that this issue isn’t over yet.
