Team Liquid, Team Falcons and HEROIC eliminated from IEM Cologne 2025

Team Liquid, Team Falcons and HEROIC are the first Group B teams to be eliminated from Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Cologne 2025.

The North American and European sides were knocked out after failing to advance to the next stage of the lower bracket.

HEROIC battled against a resurging Ninjas in Pyjamas (NiP) to become one of the top three teams from Group B to make it to the Lanxess Arena. The Swedish organisation continued its impressive run of form, sweeping aside HEROIC 2-0 to bring its Cologne campaign to an end. 

Elsewhere, Team Liquid had the tricky task of overcoming FaZe Clan in a bid to keep its tournament dream alive. Similar to NiP versus HEROIC, FaZe Clan dominated with victories on Mirage and Ancient to move on to the next round. 

For NiP, the Swedes took on NAVI in the lower bracket semi-finals, while FaZe Clan battles Aurora Gaming for a chance to move closer to the Playoffs.

3DMAX faced off against G2 Esports in the Group A lower bracket. The new-look European lineup continued to show promise, scoring a 2-0 win over the French roster. With G2 Esports securing victory over 3DMAX, it moves a step closer to the Lanxess Arena.

Group A also featured an in-form FURIA take on Team Falcons in the final match of the lower bracket semi-finals. Falcons struck first with victory on Train before FURIA responded on Mirage to force a deciding Dust II. Despite the Falcons securing an early lead, FURIA overturned the deficit to take the series 2-1 to send the fifth-best team in the world packing.
