The Hades developers just can’t seem to stop, releasing yet another “final” patch after the last one. But this time, it really is the last one.
Early Access for Hades 2 is coming to an end and celebrating with a final update. However, this has been announced several times, causing confusion on Reddit.
It remains to be seen whether the changes in the last patch will really be the last. We’ll clarify what adjustments you can expect and capture the mood surrounding the upcoming release.
The now (really!) last patch
Early Access Patch 11
for Hades 2 was released yesterday as a surprise. Surprising because the developers already announced in Patch 10 on Steam that this would almost certainly be the last update before the final launch.
But only pretty
certain, as they emphasize again in yesterday’s update announcement. According to the developers, this update is truly the final one and brings minor improvements, bug fixes, and balance adjustments that pave the way for the release of the finished version. The complete (surprisingly extensive) list of changes can be found here: here on Steam. The most important new features can be found further down in the article.
Balance changes to weapons and enemies
Update 11 doesn’t bring any huge changes, but it does tweak a few weapons in detail. Umbral Flames now has larger projectiles and higher speed, while Moonstone Axe lovers can look forward to higher damage. While you’re charging your Omega attack, the Black Coat’s block function should now also respond better.
A few Boons, Aspects, and Blessings have also been reworked. In addition, you’ll encounter fewer enemies in the late game areas to make the game more fair. The environment on Mount Olympus has also been slightly adjusted to make it easier to take cover.
A note about the current patch notes reveals that most of the changes are based on community feedback. Supergiant Games is likely making sure that Hades 2 feels really good for players in its current form before launch.
Final_Final_Final_Update
– Reddit takes it with humor
On Reddit, fans immediately started making fun of the announcement. In the comments, users joke that patch versions with titles such as Patch_Final_Final_Final
or Final_Final_Finalfrtho_3
are now likely to follow.
Anyone who has ever had to finalize a project probably knows this problem. However, the developers are receiving a lot of praise for the content – Hades 2 is already more polished and deeper than its predecessor in many aspects of gameplay. The final release date is still pending, but no new features are expected to be added before then. The actual launch update will then focus solely on the ending, achievements, and a few final detail improvements.
