Pokémon TCG Pocket leaks spread rumours on A4 update after fans disappointed with no news during Pokemon Presents

After disappointment over no new announcement during Pokémon Presents, Pokémon TCG Pocket leaks have spread online, suggesting Ho-Oh and Lugia are at the centre of the A4 update.

A trailer that seemingly leaked from an Italian Pokémon account features a sea and sky theme, revealing 14 different cards in total.

Pokémon TCG Pocket leaks: leaked cards in A4

A trailer now circulating on Reddit and X (formerly Twitter) was apparently mistakenly uploaded to an Italian branch of official Pokémon on YouTube. It has now been widely shared across the TCG community.

Ho-Oh and Lugia appear to be central to the update.

According to the leaks, Ho-Oh EX allows players to take a Fire Energy, Grass Energy, and Lightning Energy from the Energy Zone to be assigned to their Benched Basic Pokémon in any way they choose.

Lugia EX, on the other hand, would allow players to remove a Fire Energy, Grass Energy, and Lightning Energy from the Pokémon.

The other cards seen or speculated due to the leaked video are as follows:

  • Umbreon EX
  • Espeon EX
  • Gyarados (shiny)
  • Cleffa
  • Pichu
  • Lyra
  • Silver
  • Cyndaquil
  • Pokemon Shoes (speculated, not confirmed)
  • Elemental Switch (speculated, not confirmed)

These are unconfirmed by Pokémon and may not be accurate at A4’s release.

An absence of updates at Pokémon Presents sends fans spiralling

Pokémon TCG Pocket fans were left bitterly disappointed by no announcements or new content for the game at Pokémon Presents. The game’s recent Eevee expansion, released in June, introduced over 100 cards. A lack of updates only a month after seems to have had a significant impact on the community.

Pokémon Presents introduced several new announcements and updates, including information about the Pokémon World Cup, Pokémon Go Fest Max Finale, and Pokémon Sleep. However, there was no mention of Pokémon TCG Pocket.

One TCG content creator lamented, “This is the game that made them 1 billion in 6 months and they act like they don’t own it.”

However, some fans appear to be placated after discovering the leaked content.

On Reddit, Pokémon TCG Pocket players discussed the potential of the leaked cards, including the impact of Lugia and Ho-Oh having an energy cost of 3 and the ability to attach energies to multiple Pokémon with Ho-Oh’s ability.

Overall, the leaked pack suggests that A4 primarily features Gen 2 Pokémon. There is also excitement over the apparent introduction of baby Pokémon, such as Pichu. This change opens up new avenues for digital Pokémon card collectors.

One player did still humourously speculate that the leak happened because “even the Italians didn’t like the presentation.”

Whether the A4 trailer came from a disappointed Italian Pokémon enthusiast or not, the initial disappointment from TCG’s absence at Pokémon Presents appears to be lessened by the excitement surrounding Pokémon TCG Pocket leaks.

The accidental trailer drop also stated that A4 will launch on July 30th. If correct, these exciting updates are not far away.
