Marvel Rivals esports in 2025 has developed rapidly since the game officially launched last December, from the Seasonal Championships to Marvel Rivals Ignite.
Despite being a relatively young esports scene, it has seen no shortage of successes. Esports Insider evaluates the performance of NetEase’s latest competitive title.
According to Esports Charts, there were two standout events that performed well in terms of viewership. One of them was the Marvel Rivals Invitational: North America #2 back in April, which 100 Thieves won. With a prize pool of $100,000 (~£78,500), the event accumulated nearly 1.9m hours watched, with a peak viewership of 71,000 across a 42-hour airtime.
The second most popular event was the Marvel Rivals Showdown during Twitch Rivals back in January. With a $200,000 (~£148,200) prize pool, it featured top content creators such as Félix ‘xQc’ Lengyel and Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek. It saw a peak viewership of nearly 176,000, and an average of 139,000, with 1.6m hours watched across an air time of nearly 12 hours.
The Biggest Highlights So Far

When viewing the official Marvel Rivals YouTube channel, various esports events have also proven to be popular within its community. The Marvel Rivals Championships see strong viewership, with Season 0 attracting nearly 192,000 views during the North America Region double-elimination stage, and Season 1 boasting over 227,000 during the North America Grand Finals.
However, the recent Season two Championships haven’t been able to attract the same viewership numbers on YouTube, with the most popular livestream being the Americas double elimination stage day 1 with just over 59,000 views. However, over on Twitch, a replay of the Americas double elimination stage day two saw over 235,000 views.
The biggest tournament in the scene by far is Marvel Rivals Ignite, with over $3m (~£2.26m) in prize pool funds up for grabs internationally across multiple stages. Americas once again saw the highest viewership by far, with the Stage one Playoffs day three and day two attracting roughly 355,000 views each.
Another interesting development with Marvel Rivals Ignite is the surge in Esports Organisations becoming active. Especially in the EMEA region, which saw teams like OG Esports return to the fray through OG Seed, and Rad EU entering the scene after acquiring TEAM1’s roster. In North America, we saw new blood join DarkZero, while long-standing teams like 100-Thieves and Sentinels maintained a strong presence in the scene.
Is Marvel Rivals Esports in a Good Place?

While the game hasn’t quite reached the same mass appeal as some of the most popular esports games in 2025, such as League of Legends or Counter-Strike, Marvel Rivals has managed to cultivate a sizeable viewership so far. Whether the game can continue this momentum remains to be seen, and if the game’s declining player base extends to its esports following.
Despite the ecosystem only being alive for a few months, Marvel Rivals esports has met its growing demand with a frequent variety of competitive events. Ranging from content creators hosting or joining tournaments, to regular in-game events that anyone can participate in, and the best teams around the world competing for the champion title.
