The data reveals a total of 24,198 kills were scored across all matches, along with 2,054 plants taking place during 3,700 rounds of Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) action.

Notably, 1,646 rounds didn’t feature a plant, highlighting aggressive defensive play preventing attackers from reaching a site. According to GRID, the number of plants increased towards the latter stages of the tournament, putting an increased focus on strategy

In addition to the number of kills and plants, GRID’s data also highlighted the top-performing players from the Austin Major. Team Vitality‘s Mathieu ‘ZywOo’ Herbaut scored the highest kill-to-death ratio of the event, earning a 1.64, 14% higher than the tournament average.

Team Spirit‘s Danil ‘donk’ Kryshkovets recorded the highest number of average kills, scoring 22.42 eliminations in each match. The average, combined with a +2876 damage differential, made the Russian player the most effective player in the entire tournament.

Elsewhere, a total of 584 in-game chickens were eliminated during the Austin Major, Counter-Strike’s most-watched esports event. Over 478 were slain during the Swiss Stage of the tournament, while the Grand Final between Team Vitality and The MongolZ saw 15 eliminations.

Other player statistics for the Austin Major include OG Esports’ Adam ‘adamb‘ Ångström recording a 75.6% headshot rate during his short run at the event. Moreover, The MongolZ had some of the most accurate shooters during the event with Ayush ‘mzinho‘ Batbold and Azbayar ‘Senzu‘ Munkhbold combining for 130+ headshots.

GRID And Esports Data

In recent years, GRID has cemented itself as one of the leading esports data companies in the world. In addition to BLAST, it has partnered with the likes of Riot Games, YaLLa Esports and StarLadder to provide data from their esports tournaments to its platform.

Using data from tournaments enables organisers to create content and add context to storylines between teams competing. Alongside content creation opportunities, the data is often distributed to bookmakers to ensure integrity is maintained.
