The full list of qualified teams for the Equal Esports Cup (EEC) Playoffs was finalised after yesterday’s tiebreaker.
Galions Pearl defeated Supernova Comets, with British Isabella ‘Izzeeri’, to take the final Playoffs spot.
The teams will have a break to prepare for the Playoffs, which kick off on July 22nd.
Galions Pearl defeats Supernova Comets in tiebreaker match
The tiebreaker match saw Galions Pearl take on Supernova Comets in a best-of-one to decide who would go through to the Playoffs.
Supernova Comets with British AD Carry, Isabella ‘Izzeeri’, were the underdogs going into the match.
Having recently lost to Solary Academy in their final Group Stage match.
Everything was to play for in the final match, which may have been too much for the recently formed roster.
Supernova Comets slowly lost control of the early game to Galions Pearl.
As top laner Emily ‘emerrin’ tried her best to mitigate the gold advantage that Galions Pearl had.
Unfortunately for Supernova Comets, Galions Pearl was able to cut down emerrin and build upon their gold lead.
Supernova Comets made a comeback after a Rift Herald that was just short for Gina ‘Lumi’ Kircher.
However, this wasn’t enough for Supernova Comets as they eventually lost the game.
Eliminating the team and Izzeeri, leaving one British player in the tournament.
British hopeful in upper bracket of Equal Esports Cup
Top laner Evie ‘Pivotless’ Pullen is the last of the British players in the tournament with their team Solary Academy.
The team has shown promising performance during the tournament and placed first Group B.
This also marks a personal best finish for Pivotless who took to social media to celebrate.
Solary Academy have only lost to Galions Pearl, alongside dropping one game to Nexus Reapers.
They’ll face Vitality Rising Bees in their first match in the EEC Playoffs upper bracket.
Pivotless will have to face Madison ‘CrowMac’ Coutelet, who’s previously played for the likes of Resolve Blue, BIG, and BIG Chroma.
Solary Academy will face off against Vitality Rising Bees on July 22nd at 6:30 BST.
The loser will drop down in the lower bracket to face the reinvigorated Galions Pearl.
Equal Esports Cup Playoffs
The Equal Esports Cup will take a brief pause while teams prepare for some of the most important matches of their careers.
This year, there’ll be more than the title and prize pool on the line.
The top three teams will also qualify for the recently announced League of Legends Game Changers (LGC) Rising.
As the first fully Riot Games-supported tournament for women’s League of Legends.
Teams will be keen to have the opportunity to secure their place in LGC Rising.
LGC Rising is set to take place across Paris Games Week in October this year.
With the Grand Final set to take place on stage on Thursday, October 30th.
The current schedule for LGC Rising is:
- Open Qualifier: August (Date TBC)
- Group Stage: September 13–14, 20–21, 27–29
- Playoffs: October 10–12 and 14–15
- Grand Final: October 30, live on stage at Paris Games Week
Heading into the Playoffs of EEC, G2 Hel will be the favourites on LoL betting sites, with Vitality Rising Bees following close behind.
