Bigger, wider, more extensive: Tokyo Game Show 2025 reports record registrations

Autumn in Japan is traditionally dedicated to gaming – and in 2025, the Tokyo Game Show will be setting new standards. What once began as a national industry show is now a global festival for the games industry. This year, the organizers are expecting a record line-up: 772 exhibitors from all over the world will present their new products at the Makuhari Exhibition Center . A number that will amaze even industry veterans.

From Chiba to the world: Why TGS 2025 will be bigger than ever before

The location is just outside Tokyo, in Chiba – and is now one of the best-known trade fair venues in the gaming scene worldwide. Of the 772 exhibitors, 299 are from abroad. This clearly shows that the TGS has long since developed into a global stage, where not only Japanese studios shine, but also developers from Europe, North America and South Korea vie for attention.

Colorful, loud and creative: the official trailer for the trade fair mixes pixelated graphics with pulsating 8-bit sound – a homage to retro gaming that makes you want more. The audience is also growing: The number of visitors exceeded a quarter of a million as early as 2024. And this year, the 300,000 mark is likely to be reached for the first time when the gaming autumn in Chiba reaches its peak.

All eyes on Tokyo: These publishers and premieres will dominate the show

Now it’s getting exciting: if you want to know where gaming is heading in the next few years, TGS 2025 will give you a clear indication. Big names such as Sony, Square Enix, Capcom, SEGA, Bandai Namco, Ubisoft, Konami and EA are not only bringing their flagship brands with them, but are also working on surprising new projects, some of which will be shown publicly for the first time. Among other things, news on Final Fantasy XVII, the new Monster Hunter and a previously secret co-op game from FromSoftware are expected.

Interesting: The indie sector is also continuing to grow. Smaller studios will be showcasing their concepts in several halls. These include, for the first time, a stage for student game design projects from Japan, the USA and Germany. This is often where the most exciting ideas are created away from the mainstream.

According to the organizers, the business areas, which have been significantly expanded this year, are particularly popular. They are aimed specifically at publishers, developers and tech companies. This is an indication that TGS is also increasingly acting as a networking hub between East and West. Anyone who wants to experience gaming at a global level in 2025 will find the right stage in Chiba.
