Developer Creative Assembly today detailed its plans for celebrating 25 years of Total War, which include a journey through the series storied past as well as a showcase that promises to offer a look at the new games and content coming our way.

Starting next month, the developer will shine the spotlight on the games that helped build up its name and reputation among both historical and fantasy strategy fans.

“Expect content like retrospective video interviews, developer livestreams, sales across our entire catalogue, as well as fantasy and historical multiplayer tournaments,” wrote Roger Collum, Vice President of Total War, in a blog post revealing the studio’s plans alongside the upcoming Total War: 25th Anniversary Showcase.

“We also want to make this a celebration you can get involved in, so we’ll be hosting giveaway competitions, inviting you to ask questions of our developers, as well as spotlighting your favourite mods and content creators who have helped make the Total War community what it is today.”

Described as “the first video presentation of its kind in our history,” the Total War: 25th Anniversary Showcase is currently in the early stages of production and set to air in early December 2025.

It “will unveil the new games that you can expect to play in the near and distant future, as well as introduce you to the development teams making them.” More details will be shared towards the end of 2025, but Collum notes that “whether you’re a fantasy or history fan, there will be plenty to enjoy.”

What exactly will be announced is anyone’s guess at this point, although previous rumors have suggested that the studio could be working on games that make use of the Star Wars and Warhammer 40,000 licenses.

Since Total War: Pharaoh didn’t quite land with historical fans of the series, many are still yearning for Total War: Medieval 3 or the promised Three Kingdoms follow-up that never materialized.

Regardless of what gets announced during December 2025’s Total War: 25th Anniversary Showcase, it will be interesting to see the direction Creative Assembly is heading in following its last few tumultuous years.

In the meantime, Warhammer 3’s 6.2 patch is set to launch next week, followed by the reveal of the Tides of Torment DLC’s third playable faction later in July.
