TL;DR
- Overwatch Stadium just received its first trio of new heroes with Sigma, Junkrat and Zenyatta.
- The best way to build Sigma is offensively to maximise his Hyperspheres.
- Junkrat has lots of synergies with his weapon, but they require mastering trajectory and bounce.
- Zenyatta can become the ultimate glass cannon in Stadium.
- These characters are not instant meta picks like Freja when she came out.
After a critically acclaimed debut, the Overwatch 2 Stadium mode took a little bit of a hit when Freja was released in a very overpowered state. After some tuning, she was reigned back in, and a lesson was learned. This is the reason why the three new characters just added to the mode (Sigma, Junkrat and Zenyatta) don’t feel as overpowered as new releases normally do in Blizzard’s hero shooter.
What the developers achieved with their new balancing philosophy, however, is true freedom of choice when building a character. Our previous build guides for Tanks, DPS, and Supports had clear winners in terms of strategies; now, each hero has at least two full sets of powers worth experimenting with. Despite the shift, there’s still a little advantage to be gained by the more knowledgeable players who can manage cooldowns, flanks, and the many different situations that require solid Overwatch Stadium builds.
Top builds for Sigma, Junkrat and Zenyatta
While there are no publicly available stats to prove which builds are technically the best, this list is based on extensive testing as of June 2025, along with the author’s own experience and judgment. We’ve included multiple options for Overwatch Stadium build upgrades for each of the three new characters, and we recommend experimentation.
Sigma

Why Sigma: In the current meta, Sigma is the only tank that can easily be built both defensively and offensively.
Our Overwatch Stadium build guide keeps things simple but effective. Starting with Philharmonic Fortitude (which gives your barrier constant health regeneration), you then add Orbital Barrier to get a mini shield that orbits you, and Event Horizon to convert damage absorbed with Kinetic Grasp into barrier health. You then proceed to invest all your money in survivability and cooldown reduction to become resilient and immovable.
By utilising Overwatch Stadium upgrades, you can further optimise, as our second build shows. Starting with Trinisphere, we’re giving Sigma a third projectile, then with Apogee Alignment, we’re generating two more Hyperpheres on ability usage to discourage adversaries from coming too close. Then, with Symphonic Syzygy, we’re converting Kinetic Graps usage into a power-up for up to 40% more temporary attack speed. Item wise we’re investing in weapon power, and gameplay-wise wise it’s imperative not to push too hard at the risk of endangering the supports. With this build, Sigma can even help with flankers, but you should not get distracted by them and focus on breaking the enemy front line.
To try this build, use this code: NMYH1 in the “import build” section of the Stadium practice range.

1 | Trinisphere | Your primary fire launches a third Hypersphere that deals 50% reduced damage. |

3 | Symphonic Syzygy | When Kinetic Grasp ends, for every 100 damage absorbed gain 10% Attack Speed for 4s, stacking up to 4 times. |
4 | Hyperloop | Hyperspheres direct hits reduce the cooldown of Accretion by 0.5s. |

Junkrat

Why Junkrat: Junkrat is chaos incarnate, but with a few well-placed items, it’s possible to hone in on his destructive potential.
A Junkrat Overwatch Stadium build can be distinct in two different ways, with some flavouring in the middle. One is betting everything on his abilities: traps and concussion mines, the other is to power up his Frag Launcher to unreasonable metrics. For the mine-focused build, we’re starting with Hop Boom to multiply explosions on site, and then Rainin Lead to drop bombs while airborne. Then we close the build with Soot Shaker for extra ammo and attack speed, and Rip Roll for a more efficient ultimate. The items section has everything invested in Ability Power.
Our second Overwatch Stadium build guide for Junkrat requires a little more knowledge of the character but rewards with incredible destructive potential. Starting off with Big Bang, our playstile is aiming at maximising bounces to cause mayhem on the objective. Then it’s 2 Frag 2 Frurious for more bombs, and Soot Shaker to reload on Concussive Mine detonation. You can round this build out with Bingo! or Bango! to start getting better at direct hits and slowly transition your Junkrat into a medium-range sniper menace. Item Wise we’re starting with more bounce distance (to substitute when you get better), lifesteal, and damage against shield or armour. Then we go heavy on cooldown reduction and weapon damage.
To try this build, use this code: 109WR in the “import build” section of the Stadium practice range.

---|---|---|
1 | Big Gang | When a Frag Launcher shot bounces, increase its projectile size by 33%. |
2 | 2 Frag 2 Frurious | Frag Launcher has a 25% chance to shoot an additional projectile that deals 66% reduced damage. |
3 | Soot Shaker | After detonating a Concussion Mine, gain 15% Attack Speed for 1.50s and restore 20% Max Ammo. |
4 | Bingo! | Frag Launcher direct hits without bouncing reduce cooldown of abilities by 25%. |

Zenyatta

Why Zenyatta: Zenyatta is the support to pick for big damage, that’s it.
There are great healers in Stadium, and Zenyatta is not one of them. He is an amazing DPS, though, so we’re going to build him that way while maximising his transcendence output for intense teamfight with our Zenyatta Stadium build. His most potent power is Discord Fever, which deals 50 ability damage to the target that Discord Orb is on, and it scales rapidly. Then we’re investing in Instant Karma for survivability (which we’re going to need a lot of) to have some damage we take refunded.
Then we could go even harder on the damage with Disco Inferno, which detonates the orb on critical hits, or have more independence with Gotta Have Faith, so more off-angles are available without losing the Harmony Orb we placed on the tank. Item-wise, in the purple section, we’re investing in Transcendence to increase survivability and accelerate allied cooldowns. You can substitute this last one with Phantasmic Flux to gain overhealth for more security while flanking. The versatility of Zenyatta and the two mentioned above shows how far the Overwatch Stadium roadmap has come in its short time since launch.
To try this build, use this code: A6WY1 in the “import build” section of the Stadium practice range.

Zenyatta Powers
Order | Power | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | Discord Fever | When Discord Orb is applied to a target, they take 50 damage over 5s. |
2 | Instant Karma | When a target of your Discord Orb damages you, restore 30% of that damage over 2s. |
3 | Gotta Have Faith | Harmony Orb targets can be out of your line of sight for 5s longer before Harmony Orb returns to you. |
4 | Disco Inferno | When you critically hit a target affected by your Discord Orb, the Orb of Destruction explodes, dealing 50 damage. |
Zenyatta Items

Conclusion
The three new additions to the Stadium mode are varied and full of options. Try our builds with their respective codes to see just how much damage Sigma and Zenyatta can do and how versatile Junkrat can be, shifting from area denial to single-target damage. The community laments the addition of two crowd control capable targets, but these heroes bring even more depth and variables to the game mode, contributing to its overall health. We hope that these Overwatch Stadium tips & tricks for the three new characters will help you get ahead.
FAQs
There are two ways to play Junkrat in Stadium: one is by betting on his concussion mines to do area damage, and the other is focusing on his Frag Launcher for big DPS. We provide builds for both.
Zenyatta’s best build in Stadium is to make him the deadliest glass cannon around. Our build focuses on just that.
Sigma can be built defensively to maximise protection, but we suggest trying our offensive build to see just how much damage he can do.
